SYNOPSIS

Six very colourful, very well-known guests arrive at Boddy Mansion on a dark, stormy night, and are given aliases, and quickly find out that they are all being blackmailed by their charismatic host, Mr. Boddy. A deal is made: either the guests have to pay double to silence the extortionist, or one of the weapons provided must be used to kill the butler, Wadsworth.

But when the lights eventually go out, Mr. Boddy turns up dead himself. While the six guests all try to escape, a very chaotic race to find the murderer unfolds. Was it the lovable Professor Plum, the sarcastic Mrs. White, or the manic Mr. Green? Which weapon did they use – the rope, the dagger, the pistol, or the lead pipe? And in which room did it happen?

While the race to find the murderer continues, the body count racks up fast – and the question remains: who will be next, and who is the murderer?

Clue: Live On Stage! is a high-energy, fast-paced comedy with fun at the very heart of it – and of course, the ultimate question – who murdered Mr. Boddy?

Clue: Live on Stage! earns its exclamation point through the breathless exuberance of its physical comedy.” – Los Angeles Times

This season’s North American touring production of Clue: Live On Stage! will see world-renowned director Casey Hushion (Mystic Pizza, Murder On The Orient Express, Fat Camp, Aladdin, Mean Girls) in the director’s chair, supported by the incredible talents, smart designs, and skill of set designer Lee Savage. HISTORY & LEGACY

Inspired by murder-mystery parlor games and detective fictions, Anthony E. Pratt and his wife Elva Pratt designed the world-famous board game Cluedo, during the Second World War. The game was first released in 1949, and became a favorite very quickly. Using the source material, Jonathan Lynn created a screenplay which was released in 1985, becoming a cult classic almost overnight.

This, in turn, inspired Sandy Rustin to create a book – quite cleverly also creating multiple options for the ending, and together with the additional material written by Hunter Foster and Eric Price, Clue: Live On Stage! had its world premier at the Bucks County Playhouse in Pennsylvania in 2017. The highly popular whodunnit translates the film’s farce and the suspense of the game into theatre, and with its humor cutting like a dagger and bluntness like the lead pipe, won over audiences around the globe.

Clue: Live On Stage! is especially renowned for its fast-paced physical comedy, rapid-fire dialogue, excellent comedic timing, and highly creative set design.

“It is a delightfully hysterical and suspenseful murder mystery that will leave you asking “whodunnit” until the very end.” – OnStage Pittsburgh
