Concessions

The Winspear Opera House enhances the performance experience by offering a wide range of concessions for its patrons. Found throughout the venue, the concession stands provide a selection of drinks and light snacks to enjoy before the show or during intermission.

You can choose from an array of options, including alcoholic beverages such as wine, beer, and cocktails, as well as non-alcoholic drinks like coffee, tea, and soft drinks. And if you’re looking for snacks, you’ll find items such as cookies, chips, and other small snacks. The menu can vary depending on the performance or event – making sure that there is something for every taste.

To streamline the experience, the opera house offers pre-order options for drinks. This means that guests can skip the line and have their refreshments ready upon arrival or during intermission. Certain performances also allow drinks inside the theater, served in specially designed cups to prevent spills.

Whether it’s a glass of wine or a simple snack, the concessions make your visit to this world-class venue even more enjoyable. 

The People’s Choice Concert

The Winspear Opera House provides the perfect introduction to opera with its annual People’s Choice Concert – a free event that brings the magic of opera to everyone. This 60-minute showcase is ideal for those curious about opera, offering a taste of some of the most famous arias. For example, La bohème, Il trovatore, and Così fan tutte. To make it even more exciting, the audience votes for the encore, creating a uniquely interactive experience.

The concert features world-class performers, including Chilean soprano Yaritza Véliz, American tenor Wayd Odle, South African mezzo-soprano Siphokazi Molteno, and Mexican baritone Alfredo Daza. Accompanied by The Dallas Opera Orchestra under the baton of Paolo Bressan, this event highlights the exceptional talent and artistry opera offers.

The People’s Choice Concert is not just a free performance – it’s a welcoming invitation into the world of opera. Whether you’re a first-timer or a long-time fan, this event showcases opera’s beauty, passion and power in an approachable and interactive way. Hosted by The Dallas Opera’s General Director Ian Derrer, it’s a perfect reason to explore opera and discover this cultural gem.
