Kimberly Akimbo is a performance that premiered Off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club NYC on February 4, 2003. Starred by Victoria Clark, and Directed by Jessica Stone, often celebrated for his ablity for bonding humor and harsh reality.
The story took place in 1999 in suburban New Jersey, a teen called Kimberly struggling with a condition that made her age four and a half times than she actually is. Put in an difficult reality to experience mortality and teen years at the same time.
Unlike the rare clinical condition, she is facing, Kimberly is rarely the center of attention in her life, in fact, you will see her unselfishly consumed by her family’s recklessly, which puts her in various emotional burdens including psychological strain, financial struggle, social isolation, and the need for belongingness. Despite this, Kimberly demonstrates great resilience, empathy, determination, courage, and managing to keep her humor.
